Relocating to Spokane?

If you are interested in Spokane relocation then you are probably interested in knowing a little more about the area you may one day call home. Relocating to Spokane is really a wonderful move because the city is located in the eastern portion of Washington State and is the state’s second largest city. The city is a metropolitan center and the fourth largest city in the United State’s Pacific Northwest.

The current population as of July 2006 is approximately 198,000 and more than half a million individuals call Spokane County home. Interestingly, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is part of the Spokane metropolitan area although they are not recognized as such since they are across state lines. However, the two are economically combined and if the population of the two were counted it would be at least 600,000 if not more.

People relocating to Spokane love that it has a big metropolitan area but that there are also places like the Spokane River that runs along the river to enjoy. People will also love that the city has beautiful lilacs that flourish in the area and that is why Spokane is called the Lilac City.

There are 58.5 square miles that make up Spokane and there are many unincorporated communities that surround the city. These cities and communities include Mead, Cheney, Airway Heights, Colbert, Liberty Lake, and Spokane Valley. The communities that are across the Idaho border include Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls.

Those considering Spokane relocation will appreciate that much of the area is made up of many different neighborhoods. These include a wide variety of neighborhoods for people with different lifestyles and tastes. Some of these neighborhoods include the Davenport Arts District that is downtown, the Browne’s Addition that is Victorian styled, as well as the North Spokane contemporary neighborhoods. When relocating to Spokane it doesn’t matter what type of neighborhood you desire, there are communities for everyone.

Right in the middle of downtown Spokane there are some beautiful falls of the Spokane River. Right on the edge of the wheat farms and the Selkirk Mountains, Spokane has a semi arid climate and the winters are especially cold with approximately 40 inches of snow per year. The summers are warm with temperatures in the 80s and 90s and sometimes as warm as 100 degrees. To the west of the city are the Cascade Mountains, which protect the city from the coldest artic air during the winter.

As you will see Spokane is a beautiful city to call home.
